A Wanderlust Adventure

A Wanderlust Adventure runs two very different trips on the Cache la Poudre, Colorado's only Wild and Scenic river — and because it is federally protected and tightly regulated, the water is less crowded than most Colorado rivers. The Taste of Whitewater is the family trip: roughly two hours of continuous Class II and III through Rocky Falls, The Devil's Staircase and Rollercoaster Rapid, and safe for kids as young as seven. The Blast of Whitewater is the serious one — three hours of Class III and IV+ through Twin Pin, Cardiac Corner and Pine View Falls, for ages 14 and up in good condition. Guides average many seasons on this river, with no first-year guides on the water, and gear includes self-bailing rafts and free paddle jackets. Trips meet at Vern's in Laporte.
