Silver Creek Access Road is exactly what its name says — a short, dirt access road inside State Forest State Park, running about half a mile up the Silver Creek drainage west of Cameron Pass. It isn't a destination trail so much as a connector: a graded, walkable spur that COTREX lists as open to foot, horse, bike, and ATV traffic (no motorcycles), managed by the state park. On the ground that means a firm dirt surface, room to spread out, and the easy, unhurried grade you get from a road rather than a footpath.
Because it's a road, expect to share it — the odd truck or ATV may pass, so keep dogs close and step aside when you hear an engine. What it does well is knit a longer outing together: park, stretch your legs up the creek, and use it to reach the trails and quieter corners of the State Forest beyond. Half a mile is short, so it pairs best with a nearby route rather than standing alone. As always up here, check current conditions and seasonal access with the park before you go — snow lingers long on the west side of the pass.

Know Before You Go
- It's a road, not a trail. Firm dirt surface and an easy grade — open to hikers, horses, bikes, and ATVs per COTREX (no motorcycles), so you may share it with vehicles.
- Best as a connector. At about half a mile it shines as a way to link a longer walk through State Forest State Park rather than as a stand-alone hike.
- State park entry. A Colorado state-parks pass is required; dogs are allowed but keep them leashed and close when vehicles pass.
- Check conditions. This is the west side of Cameron Pass — snow and mud linger; confirm seasonal access with State Forest State Park before heading out.
