Lost Lake is one of the small, quiet waters tucked into the Roosevelt National Forest up near Chambers Lake, at about 9,300 feet just off the Laramie River Road. It sits among a cluster of well-known upper-Poudre fishing spots — Chambers Lake, the Laramie River, Sheep Creek — and rewards anglers who like to get a little off the beaten path.
This is dispersed, roll-your-own country: free national-forest camping scatters along the Laramie River Road nearby, and the fishing is the low-key, high-country kind. A valid Colorado fishing license is required, and it is worth confirming the current regulations before you go, since small forest waters can carry their own rules.
