Signature Mountain Events

Looking to plan your trip around our biggest celebrations? Here is a taste of the unforgettable events that bring our village to life each year:

The Ultimate 4th of July Celebration If there is one event that defines summer up here, it is our legendary Independence Day weekend. The whole town buzzes with excitement! Kick off the morning with the Red Feather Lakes 3.6 Mile Fun Run, a scenic jog that winds past the golf course and finishes right at The Tavern. The day is packed with family fun, including a Kids’ Fishing Contest at Ramona Lake, a bustling summer Craft Fair, and our charming hometown parade down Main Street. As dusk settles, find a cozy spot on the grass to watch our spectacular fireworks display reflect brilliantly off the waters of Hiawatha Lake.

The Red Feather Trail Jamboree (September) When the crisp autumn air arrives and the valley turns to vibrant hues of gold, runners from across the country gather for the Red Feather Trail Jamboree. Hosted near the Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, this incredible weekend features a beginner-friendly Half Marathon, a 50K, and a rugged 50-Mile ultra. It is an unforgettable way to experience our pristine single-track trails, with routes winding through moose-populated forests and sweeping mountain meadows.

The Greening of Red Feather & Holiday Craft Fairs (December) Kick off the holiday season with a touch of pure mountain magic. Held in early December, the Greening of Red Feather is a beloved community tradition. Spend the day browsing multiple Holiday Craft Fairs spread across the village, where you can find unique, handcrafted gifts and ornaments from local artisans. It is the perfect time to grab a hot cocoa, shop local, and head out into the Canyon Lakes Ranger District to continue the tradition of cutting your very own wild Christmas tree.

Annual Ice Fishing Competition (February) Bundle up, drill a hole, and drop a line! Deep in the heart of winter, anglers of all skill levels head to the frozen surface of Dowdy Lake for our highly anticipated Ice Fishing Competition. Whether you are competing for the biggest catch or simply enjoying the lively camaraderie on the ice, it is a quintessential Colorado winter experience you won’t want to miss.
